Kota Kinabalu (KK) is situated on the tropical island of Borneo, and is the state capital of the Malaysian state Sabah, which is one of the two states of East Malysia.

Mount Kinabalu is the highest mountain on the island of Borneo. The summit Low´s Peak has a height of 4.095 metres (13.435 feet) and is the third tallest in South East Asia.

Mt Kinabalu is also the venue of the annual Climbathon event, one of the toughest mountain race in the world.
